Dar
es Salaam, TANZANIA. From November 26 to 28, the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S.
Embassy in Dar es Salaam Dr. Inmi Patterson traveled to Mwanza, Tanzania to
visit, and raise awareness of, U.S. efforts to empower local Tanzanians to
develop healthy communities, promote local and regional economies, and support education.
“The
U.S. Government is proud to partner with Tanzanians, working side by side to ensure
a peaceful, prosperous, secure, and healthy Tanzania,” said Chargé d’Affaires
Patterson during a visit to the Archbishop Anthony Mayalla School of Nursing at
the Bugando Medical Center in Mwanza, where American nurses work with and teach
Tanzanian counterparts neonatal care techniques as part of the Global Health
Service Partnership program. “Our cooperative relationship grows from the rich
history of partnership between our two countries, and I am confident that we
will continue to build on that history as we support each other.”
Mwanza
hosts a wide range of U.S. Government development assistance programs,
including Peace Corps Volunteers, programming under the President's Emergency
Plan For AIDS Relief through the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, and development efforts led by the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Development cooperation with Tanzanian partners is part of the U.S.
Government’s broader investment and cooperation with the Tanzanian people.
